Perkins Communications Releases Master Control Suite
1.0
March
31, 2001
Perkins Communications today announced the release of a
new software package designed to allow the scheduled
playback of digital video content. Master Control
Suite 1.0 was developed specifically to control analog
video playback of MPEG streams stored on Concurrent
Computer Corporation's Media Hawk server.
Master Control Suite directly addresses a need that has
been expressed to us by users of the Media Hawk
server...to graphically schedule playback events and
edit broadcast schedules in real time., said Aaron
Perkins,
Software Development manager for Perkins Communications..
Using
Master Control Suite, administrators are able to exert
fine control over the playback of several simultaneous
channels of live video, instructing the server to play
"video streams" on designated cable TV channels at
predetermined times.
All operations are done within a "graphical
interface" which enables the user to schedule video
playback without interacting with the underlying
complexities of a video server.
We
envision Universities having the strongest interest in
our product, said Joe Perkins, President. Colleges
have just begun to utilize digital video servers to
store and playback instructional video, and Master
Control Suite is the tool that will make the task of
setting up a broadcast schedule a simpler and more
flexible procedure.
The new
software package is for immediate sale through
authorized distributors in the U.S., Canada,
Australia, and Germany.
